Silvestre Dangond

Silvestre Francisco Dangond Corrales, born on May 12, 1980, in Urumita, La Guajira, Colombia, is widely regarded as one of the most influential vallenato singers of his generation. Growing up in a musical family – his father William José "El Palomo" Dangond was a singer himself – he made his debut in 2002 on Sony Music with the album *Tanto Para Ti*, recorded alongside accordionist Ramón López. His breakthrough came through his partnership with Juancho de la Espriella: albums such as *Lo Mejor Para los Dos* (2003), *Mas Unidos Que Nunca* (2004), and *No Me Compares con Nadie* (2011) – the latter achieving diamond certification – established the duo as Colombia's top vallenato act. As a solo artist, Dangond demonstrated that traditional folk music and international pop are no contradiction: his hit *Cásate Conmigo* with Nicky Jam reached No. 1 on major U.S. radio stations, with further collaborations featuring Maluma, Natti Natasha, and Carlos Vives also topping international charts. His 2025 album *El Último Baile* won the Latin Grammy for Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album and earned him a Grammy nomination. With more than a dozen albums, three Latin Grammy Awards, a Premio Lo Nuestro, and an ASCAP Award, Dangond is today one of the most important Latin artists in the world.
