Themba

Mpumalanga, South Africahouse · techno · melodic-house · afro-tech
Themba Mbongeni Nkosi, born on 6 December 1983 in Mpumalanga, South Africa, is one of the defining DJs and producers in the global house and techno scene. Growing up in Likazi, Klerksdorp, and later Benoni, he developed a deep love of music through the soul and jazz records his father played – artists like The Spinners, Marvin Gaye, Stimela, and Hugh Masekela. He began DJing in his late teens and quickly earned radio airplay on Johannesburg's YFM before hosting his own shows on national stations. Known for years as Euphonik, he reinvented himself in 2017 under his first name Themba, merging house and techno with the influences of his African heritage into a distinctive Afro-Tech sound. Signed to Armada Music, he released his second studio album Elements Of Africa and scored over 8 million streams with the 2022 single "Disappear" (feat. Nico de Andrea & Tasan). Collaborations with David Guetta's alias JACK BACK, Vintage Culture, and remixes for Hannah Wants, Franky Wah, and DJ Chus highlight his international standing. In summer 2026, he holds residencies at Ibiza venues including Blue Marlin, Mambo, and Chinois, and joined David Guetta's "The Monolith Tour". His debut LP Modern Africa rounds out an impressive discography.
