Valeria Castro Rodríguez, born in 1999 in Los Llanos de Aridane on La Palma (Canary Islands), has become one of the most compelling voices in Spanish singer-songwriter music. Her sound blends indie pop with acoustic folk, built on honest lyrics about love, heartbreak and self-discovery, carried by a warm and immediately affecting voice.
She broke through in 2021 with the EP *chiquita* on Warner Music Spain, followed by her debut album *con cariño y con cuidado* (2023, Madame Vodevil), produced by Çantamarta and Iván de la Rioja. The record fuelled a sold-out tour of more than ten countries across 82 shows and earned her two Latin Grammy nominations, including Best Singer-Songwriter Song. Her second album *el cuerpo después de todo* (2024, Warner Music Spain), produced by eight-time Latin Grammy winner Carles Campi Campón, culminated in a show at Madrid's Movistar Arena and a Latin American tour spanning at least 17 countries, closing at the WiZink Center in Madrid.
Castro has collaborated with artists including Alejandro Sanz, Vetusta Morla, Silvana Estrada, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Julieta Venegas and Tanxugueiras. Her accolades include Best Roots Album at the Premios MIN, the Premio ACAEM, the Medalla de Oro de Canarias and three awards from the Academia de la Música. She has performed at major festivals such as Noches del Botánico, La Mar de Músicas and Vida.
