Wally B. Seck

Dakar, Senegalmbalax · afrobeat · pop
Wally Ballago Seck, born on April 27, 1985 in Dakar, is one of Senegal's most celebrated singers and is widely regarded as the prince of African pop music, following in the footsteps of Youssou N'Dour. Son of Mbalax legend Thione Seck and great-grandson of a Mouride praise singer, he grew up steeped in music, though he initially pursued a football career, including a stint in Italy. At his father's urging he returned to Dakar and committed to music. His first single "Bi Dioudo" appeared in 2007, followed by his debut album "Voglio" in 2010, which established him as a rising force in modern Mbalax. Albums such as "Louné" (2012), "Xélwas" (2015), and "Symphonie" (2018) cemented his reputation. In 2019 he signed with the French major label Believe. Seck blends traditional Senegalese rhythms with contemporary pop and Afrobeat, and has collaborated with international artists including Wizkid, Davido, Jason Derulo, and Chris Brown. He is the lead vocalist of the group Raam Daan and CEO of his own label Faramareen Music. Sold-out shows at the Zénith Paris – La Villette and Le Dôme de Paris highlight his global reach.
