Xeremiers de sa Marina

Llucmajor, Spanienfolk · traditional
Xeremiers de sa Marina come from Llucmajor, Mallorca, where the group was founded in 1997. What began as a traditional colla of xeremiers – the island's bagpipe players – grew over time into a recognised Escola d'Instruments Tradicionals in the region. The musicians play xeremies, flabiol and tamborí, dedicated to preserving Mallorcan folk music. Their name recalls the history of the port of Sóller, where ancestors of the group once unloaded oranges from ships – a memory that still lives on in their performances and stories. In 2015, the album "Gegants i Xeremiers de Llucmajor" was released on Àudiovisuals de Sarrià, featuring tracks such as "Cercaviles des Gegants", "Es Pirata Barba Rossa" and "Sa Fada Morgana". The group regularly appears at cultural festivities and folk music events across the island and has also taken part in projects with groups from Occitania in southern France. At their Festkonzert in the historic cloister Claustre de Sant Bonaventura in Llucmajor, Xeremiers de sa Marina bring the island's traditional sounds to life in a unique acoustic setting.
