Olaf Malolepski, known as Olaf der Flipper, was born on 27 March 1946 in Magdeburg and is one of the most recognised names in German-language schlager music. He first rose to fame as the lead singer of the legendary band Die Flippers, founded in 1964 and active until 2011. Recording for labels such as Ariola, Dino and Bellaphon, Die Flippers earned multiple platinum certifications – among them the albums "Lotosblume" (1989) and "Rote Rosen" (1988) – and shaped generations of schlager fans. After the band disbanded, Olaf launched a successful solo career under the name Olaf der Flipper. He has released albums including "Aloha Blue" (2019), "Liebe ist" (2021) and "Best Of" (2024), all via Universal Music. In May 2025 he reached No. 71 in the UK Singles Chart with "Drinking Wine, Feeling Fine", a collaboration with Swiss singer Vincent Gross. His latest album "Weltklasse" was released in 2026 via Electrola/Universal Music. He is also known for duets with Pia Malo and collaborations with Andy Borg. In March 2026 Olaf celebrates his 80th birthday with an exclusive birthday tour.
