Teatre Principal de Palma stands for a wide-ranging stage programme in the heart of Palma: here musicals, concerts and comedy meet opera, dance, theatre and circus. In this way, the venue presents both major international guest performances and formats for a broad audience. With its neoclassicism and iconic horseshoe auditorium, the theatre combines repertoire and the present; the programme features family-friendly musicals as well as tribute concerts, symphonic performances, dance productions and stage comedy.
Teatre Principal looks back on more than three and a half centuries of history. Originating from the Casa de les Comèdies, the venue was rebuilt in the 19th century and restored and reopened in the 2000s. Since 1980 it has been under the administration of the Consell de Mallorca. As a cultural institution with modern stage technology and a clear urban presence, it is a fixed point of reference in Palma's cultural life and a central venue for the performing arts on the island.
