On Display Maria Mora and Katja Butković Open studio showing of the residency: Thursday, September 17 at 8 pm “On Display” is a research and creation project that reflects on the complex role of being a ballerina in a social, personal and cultural context. The project stems from the concern raised by the question: What does it mean to be a ballerina? That interest led us to think about how society constantly sees dancers as products or as a form of entertainment. Building on that question, we propose a critical investigation from a female perspective into stereotypes, sexualization, the female body, gender roles, and the expectations that shape dance practice.
