You Come and the Songs – (Organised by Acadèmia 1830) – EXPERIÈNCIES MUSICALS FUNDACIÓ SA NOSTRA

Coinciding with the Conxita Badia Year, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of her death, this musical performance revisits one of the most important figures in Catalan lyric music. With an extraordinary voice, musicality and human quality, she was the muse of many of the great composers of her time, who found in her an unparalleled interpreter for their works. Through music and words, we will delve into the admiration and respect this soprano inspired in her day. The programme alternates spoken and sung word, exploring two of the qualities that made her extraordinary: musicality and humanity. Works dedicated to her will be performed for voice and piano: La Rosa als Llavis by Eduard Toldrà (Premi Albéniz de la Generalitat de Catalunya, 1936), Balada de la Nova Solveig by Pau Casals, Diades d’amor by Narcís Bonet, Neu by Frederic Mompou, Cançó del mocador by Jaume Pahissa, Capvespre de juny by Baltasar Samper, Gracia mía and Lloraba la niña by Enric Granados, L’infantament meravellós de Schahrazada by Robert Gerhard, etc. The recital will include an intimate corner created with her personal objects, from which a series of unpublished texts will be read, immersing us in the historical moment, the artistic environment and her human side. Among the highlights of this show are the presence of historical objects belonging to Conxita Badia, the presentation of unpublished material, and the fact that two of the performers are the artist’s great-grandchildren.
