Pollença lies in the north of Mallorca, framed by the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana. The municipality combines an old town, mountain scenery and coastline. In Pollença, more than 365 steps lead up to Calvary Hill, while a monastery stands on Puig de Pollença. The GR21 long-distance hiking trail ends in the town. Port de Pollença adds a gently shelving beach, a long promenade and opportunities for snorkelling, diving and surfing. To the north-east begins the Formentor peninsula with Cap de Formentor. This makes Pollença suitable for days by the sea as well as hiking, golf or horse-riding excursions. A weekly market and the Pollença Festival, held since 1962, complete the programme.
