Nanai Beach – Beach Clubs in Mallorca

Nanai Beach

Cala Comtesa, Illetes

Cala Comtesa, Illetesbeach club

The light only breaks through the pine canopy properly in the afternoon. Before then, someone brings you a sea bass ceviche on handcrafted Portofino ceramics — the kimchi aioli on the grilled octopus awaits the first forkful, and somewhere the first Tropical House set of the evening is already starting. Cala Comtesa is one of the quietest bays on the southwest coast: pine shade, fine sand, an unobstructed view of the sea. That is exactly why the team behind NU Mallorca and Negre Restaurant built their third venue here.

Concept

Opened in 2024, Nanai Beach arrives with a clear triple axis: design, music and art. A space conceived as art in itself — Berlin-based artist Cevin Parker and Berlin-based DJ Maddi Bu co-developed architecture and soundscape, weaving vivid colours with a sonic dramaturgy that unfolds from midday to sunset. The same group also runs Numa Beach at Playa de Muro and Negre Restaurant — a clear aesthetic line runs through all three.

Atmosphere & Design

Even the uniforms — designed by the avant-garde label Sucuk und Bratwurst — signal on arrival that this is no generic beach operation. The crockery is handmade Portofino ceramics: each bowl a small object that brings the club-as-gallery idea directly to the table. Guests describe the feeling of being part of an exhibition while feeling completely at ease. The chill-out area with floor cushions right at the water turns that apparent contradiction into reality: art context and swimming bay, not either/or.

Cuisine & Drinks

Modern tapas to share, Mallorcan base, international accents. Ceviche de lubina with a cool citrus touch is one of the signatures; alongside: grilled octopus with kimchi aioli, tuna tartare, and fried calamares that regulars and first-timers alike keep returning to. The restaurant section adds more elaborate dishes — seafood and fish preparations with a finer finish. Drinks-wise: a curated wine and champagne selection, cocktails. The price level is upscale — those expecting quality at the table and in the glass will find it; those seeking a cheap beach lunch will not.

Programme & Music

Tropical House, Minimal, Melodic — DJs play regularly from afternoon into the evening through the high season. The in-house series Nanai Nights and sunset sessions have already built their own community. The music follows the rhythm of the day without competing with the sea views. The peak moment arrives when the light tips the bay into shades of orange and the set reaches its zenith — one of the most atmospheric sunset experiences on the island.

Who It’s For & What Occasions

The crowd is a premium mix: locals, visitors and yacht charter guests who stop off at Ses Illetes. Long afternoons, sunset drinks, private events (bookable), gift cards — the range is broader than a typical beach club. Anyone wanting to celebrate a birthday or a group lunch at one of the finest spots on the southwest coast will find a setting here that carries the occasion.

Insider Tip

Reservations are essential in high season — the chill-out area in particular tends to be fully pre-booked. The sweet spot: arrive in the afternoon, eat slowly, stay until the sunset colours the bay. The hidden gem status has long been overtaken by the club’s growing reputation — but the mood in this pine-fringed bay, as the last light falls on the water, is hard to replicate.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions about Nanai Beach

Where exactly is Nanai Beach?

At Cala Comtesa (Carrer Cala Contesa 7) in Ses Illetes, municipality of Calvià — a small pine-fringed bay a few kilometres west of Palma city centre on the southwest coast.

What is the price level like?

Upscale. Tapas, fish dishes and drinks fall in the upper range; several guests find the price-to-quality ratio set high. Not the place for a cheap beach lunch.

Do I need a reservation?

Strongly recommended in high season, especially for the chill-out area with floor cushions — it is usually fully pre-booked. Book via the club’s website.

Who is the club suited for?

Couples and groups wanting quality tapas, good music and direct sea access; yacht charter guests stopping at Ses Illetes; private occasions such as birthdays or exclusive group lunches.

How do I get there?

By taxi or hire car, around 10 minutes from Palma city centre. Parking in Ses Illetes is limited — plan ahead. Yacht guests can anchor directly in the bay.

What makes Nanai Beach special?

The combination of artistically conceived design (Cevin Parker + DJ Maddi Bu), handmade Portofino ceramics, modern Mediterranean tapas cuisine and a sunset DJ culture in a hidden pine bay with direct sea access — Mallorca’s Artistic Beach Club is no empty tagline.
