Valldemossa

Valldemossacafe

Can Uetam is a café-grill in Valldemossa, set in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana inside an old manor house on the edge of the car-free village centre. From the terrace the view runs across the mountain backdrop and the bell tower of Sant Bartomeu church. Mediterranean cuisine with a contemporary twist, a grill at the centre of the menu, local produce – and a deliberately unhurried pace.

What makes Can Uetam special

Founded by the people behind Beewi, Can Uetam pairs honest Mediterranean cooking with arguably the village's finest terrace view. The kitchen works with fresh, regional ingredients and the grill takes centre stage: a Galician blond-beef T-bone (1 kg, to share), Iberico secreto, Balearic lamb, quail or free-range Picantón chicken, each served with potatoes and grilled vegetables.

The house signature is the "Ca'n Uetam Eggs" on creamy potatoes and red paprika – with sobrassada, eggplant-parmesan-pesto, mushrooms with truffle oil or ham. The cooking is elevated yet grounded, and the place is built around the outdoors: you sit on the terrace, not in a dining room.

Coffee & menu

The menu runs all day. Come for a coffee, a slice of chocolate or almond cake, a banoffee or a coca de patata just as easily as for tapas and pa amb oli: bread with aioli and olives, Padrón peppers, croquettes, Spanish tortilla, mushrooms in Roquefort sauce, the cheese board with honey, grapes and quince paste, or the 100% Iberian ham board with Mallorcan country bread.

For something more substantial there are salads – goat cheese with blueberry jam, seasonal salad with burrata – burgers including a vegetarian lentil version, and the pa amb oli classics, with Iberian ham or pulled pork and aioli. Towards sunset the mood shifts to the cocktail-bar terrace, one of the most atmospheric corners of the house.

Atmosphere & location

Can Uetam sits a little away from the bustle, on the edge of the cobbled, car-free centre – a few minutes' walk from the monastery and the main car park, and about 150 m from the Jardins Rei Joan Carles. Family-run, with attentive service and a calm that keeps high-season Valldemossa pleasantly at bay.

For celebrations the two terraces can be booked privately – the main terrace for up to 100 guests, the cocktail-bar terrace for up to 50, with tailored group menus. And if you want to stay over, the small attached boutique Hotel Ca'n Uetam offers a room with mountain views, where the silence of the Tramuntana sets the tone.
