Cap Formentor in Mallorca

Cap Formentor is located on the northern coast of Mallorca and forms the northernmost tip of the Balearic Island. The cliffs are at the end of a 14 km long winding road, which meanders through the peninsula of the same name. In the coastal town of Port de Pollença, the approach road begins and from it you can expect spectacular views of the wild and romantic coastal region. Small parking spaces are located at charming vantage points along the way.

From the Mirador d'es Colomer you can cast your eye over the vast coastal region. At this point, the cliffs rise up to 200 m above sea level. The highest point of the route can be reached at an altitude of 384 m near Furmat. Be warned: the narrow road will challenge your driving at certain heights, as at many points the road runs directly along the sharp edge.

Breathtaking coastal landscape at the northernmost point

At the end of the winding road there is a parking lot where you can leave the rental car to enjoy the magnificent view. The rocky cliffs rise almost vertically from the water and deep below you, the waves of the Mediterranean crash against the cliffs. The coast is wild and rugged with small bays, rocky headlands and free-standing boulders in the water which characterise the landscape.

On a small rocky plateau at Cap Formentor there is a lighthouse and a self-service restaurant where you can help yourself to chilled drinks and light snacks while visiting the dolphins. In the main season, many tourists visit the attractions on the north coast of Majorca and the access road can get quite full. Traffic jams on the winding road are not unheard of in summer although there is a significantly lower volume of traffic in the winter months and in the off-season.
