Bosc de les Alzines
Description
Bosc de les Alzines is an ancient holm oak forest and nature area near Campanet in northern Mallorca, celebrated for the remarkable natural spring phenomenon known as Ses Fonts Ufanes.
The Natural Phenomenon: Ses Fonts Ufanes
At the heart of the area are the Ses Fonts Ufanes — natural springs that burst spontaneously from the ground whenever prolonged, heavy rainfall causes the water table to overflow. This happens only a handful of times each year, yet it ranks among the most spectacular natural events on the island. The water feeds directly into the Torrent de Sant Miquel. Witnessing the springs in full flow depends on generous rainfall, but even when the springs lie dormant, a walk through the forest is well worth the trip.
The Trail
The circular path through the holm oak woodland is flat, wide and easy underfoot, making it suitable for walkers of all ages as well as cyclists. The terrain is consistently level throughout. A full circuit takes around two hours. The area is well maintained, and on site you'll find an information hut with showers and toilets.
