Description
The Mediterranean Wildlife Foundation is a non-profit conservation organisation in Campanet dedicated to the protection and breeding of vultures on Mallorca.
Conservation up close
At the heart of the foundation's work are Cinereous Vultures and Griffon Vultures — birds that are sick or injured and can no longer be released into the wild. The foundation runs an active breeding and population conservation programme; from a single breeding pair of Cinereous Vultures, the population has now grown to thirty-two birds. Visitors receive in-depth explanations about the birds' behaviour and the importance of their conservation to Mallorca's ecosystem.
The vulture feeding
The highlight of any visit is the vulture feeding, where you can watch the birds at close quarters. It's a memorable experience that brings to life the vital role vultures play in the natural cycle. Guided tours are also available in German.
Funding & support
The foundation is funded through donations and a small on-site shop. If you'd like to support the foundation's work, you can make a contribution directly on the premises.
Location & surroundings
The foundation is located on Finca Son Pons, at kilometre 38.200 on the Palma–Alcúdia road, in Campanet in the island's interior. Access is via the MA-13.
