Description

Ca u Metge is a Mediterranean restaurant in Port de Pollença, housed in the rooms of a former doctor's surgery, bringing together food, wine culture and live music under one roof.

History & Interior

The name says it all: 'Ca u Metge' roughly translates as 'The Doctor's Place', and this was indeed once the surgery of a physician who practised in the port for decades. His son now runs the restaurant and has consciously woven the historic details of the old practice into the décor. The result is a heartfelt tribute to family history — with carefully curated decorative touches that extend all the way to the loos.

Food & Drink

The menu is concise but sharply focused: tapas, rice dishes and mains form its backbone. Among the tapas, croquettes, mussels, patatas bravas and squid dishes stand out; the rice dishes — with variations featuring prawns, squid, black rice and chickpeas — draw particular praise. Lamb and sea bass are among the most frequently mentioned mains. The wine list has a reputation all of its own, and the staff are happy to help with pairing. On Sundays, a Brazil evening takes centre stage, accompanied by the band Vao Com Tudo.

Music & Atmosphere

Every Friday evening, the Gotmar Jazz Trio plays live in the restaurant. These nights have become a firm fixture and give the place a distinctive rhythm of their own. The atmosphere throughout is warm, welcoming and intimate — away from the main tourist drag, yet close to the town square.

Getting There

The restaurant is located at Carrer del Ponent 1 in Port de Pollença, near the local market square. A reservation is advisable, as the place fills up quickly.
