Cala Mondragó
Description
Cala Mondragó is a sandy cove in the south-east of Mallorca, nestled within the Mondragó Nature Reserve and belonging to the municipality of Santanyí.
A Cove Within a Nature Reserve
Cala Mondragó sits at the heart of the nature reserve that shares its name. Turquoise, crystal-clear water and fine sand define the beach, as does the unspoilt surroundings of pine trees, rock formations and protected coastline. There is no large hotel infrastructure along this stretch of shore — and that is very much by design. Marked walking trails wind through the area, and several neighbouring coves are within easy reach on foot.
Beach & Water
The shallow, calm water close to the shoreline makes for excellent swimming. Visibility beneath the surface is clear enough to spot fish directly from the beach — snorkelling along the rocks at either side of the cove is particularly rewarding. Sun loungers and showers are not available at Cala Mondragó, so bring your own towels and chairs. Toilet facilities are on site. The cove is served by a restaurant, a snack bar and a small shop, and a lifeguard service is in place.
Location & Getting There
The cove lies within the municipal area of Santanyí, postcode 07691. A pay car park is located nearby, with a short walk leading down to the beach from there. The beach gets busy during the summer months and is noticeably quieter in the shoulder seasons.
