What to expect

The counter is filled with sweet and savoury specialities made on the premises: ensaimadas, the classic Mallorcan almond cake (Gato de Almendra), Coca de Patata, empanadas, robiols, and a variety of other cakes and pastries. Savoury filled pastries — with fillings such as artichoke, meat, fish or vegetables — are also part of the repertoire. If you fancy something cooling, there's a wonderful almond granita as well as horchata, and coffee is served to wash it all down.

Ca'n Cerdà has the soul of a genuine village bakery: artisan, traditional, and completely free of tourist gloss. Everything is homemade and the prices are thoroughly fair. It's a small operation — two tables with four seats each outside, and one further table inside — and locals shop here just as much as visitors do.
