Description
The Museu Etnològic de Muro is an ethnological museum in the heart of Muro, bringing to life the everyday living and domestic culture of Mallorca across centuries gone by.
What to expect
Housed in a historic manor house spread across two floors, the museum holds a broad collection of historical everyday objects: tools, ceramics, household implements, rural utensils and antique furniture all paint an authentic picture of how people on Mallorca once lived and worked. Reconstructed rooms recreating a traditional Mallorcan farmhouse interior bring individual areas of daily life vividly to life — from the living room and bakery to administrative offices and the garden. Entry is free.
Atmosphere & staff
The staff are known for their warm and welcoming reception. Labels are in Catalan, but the team is happy to explain objects and their context — and much of the collection speaks for itself without any language knowledge. The house and its garden add enormously to the atmosphere: a visit feels like stepping back in time.
How to find it
The museum is located at Carrer Major 15 in the centre of Muro. The entrance blends quietly into the row of buildings and is easy to miss on a first visit — it's worth keeping an eye on the house number as you approach.
