Description
Olleria Cas Canonge is a traditional pottery and workshop in Pòrtol, where handcrafted Mallorcan ceramics are made and sold on the premises.
A craft rooted in family tradition
Olleria Cas Canonge was founded in 1981 by brothers Bartomeu and Bernat Amengual Reynés — master craftsmen of the third and fourth generation, who learnt the art of pottery from their father Bernat Amengual Serra, himself the son and grandson of potters. The workshop holds registration number 64 among officially listed craft businesses, and the street on which it stands has since taken the name of the olleria itself.
Ceramics straight from the workshop
The showroom offers a wide selection of handcrafted pieces, including cazuelas (earthenware casserole dishes), bowls, plates, pots and jugs, as well as a range of siurells — the traditional Mallorcan clay whistle figurines. Every piece is made in the adjoining workshop, with individual patterns ensuring no two items are ever alike. If you're after something truly special, the workshop also takes custom orders and personalised pieces — for example inscribed with a name and date.
Watch the potters at work
The workshop and shop sit under one roof, so when you visit you can watch the potters at work — throwing on the wheel is part of everyday life in the studio. This combination of production and retail makes a visit a genuinely authentic insight into Mallorcan pottery craft.
Finding Olleria Cas Canonge
The workshop is located at Carrer Cas Canonge 41 in Pòrtol, a village well known for its pottery tradition and home to several working studios.
