Playa de Olia
Description
Playa de Olia is a small shingle and rocky cove on the Península de Victòria in the north-east of Mallorca.
Shingle, rock and crystal-clear water
The beach is made up of shingle and rock — don't come looking for sand. The water is crystal clear and offers great swimming conditions. If you fancy snorkelling, Playa de Olia is an excellent spot: beneath the surface you'll find plenty of fish, and the rocky coastal formations make for fascinating underwater terrain. Water shoes are well worth bringing, as entering the sea means picking your way over pebbles and stones.
The island of S'Illot
Just offshore sits the small island of S'Illot. Confident swimmers can make the crossing, making the cove a favourite snorkelling destination. The combination of island, rocks and turquoise water gives this place its very special character.
Quieter than its busier neighbours
Compared to the more popular beaches in the area, Playa de Olia is noticeably peaceful. Above the beach you'll find tables and benches — perfect for a picnic. There's also a restaurant up there if you'd rather leave the cooking to someone else.
Location & getting there
The cove lies on the Península de Victòria, postcode 07400. It can be reached from Alcúdia by car or on foot via a walking trail. The final stretch down to the beach itself runs along a short dirt track. Parking is limited, so arriving early is advisable during peak season.
