Description
Restaurant Montision is set within the Santuari de Monti-Sion, a former monastery perched on a hill above Porreres in the heart of Mallorca.
Mallorcan cuisine in a monastery setting
The kitchen at Montision stays true to traditional Mallorcan cooking. Pa amb oli — served in a variety of ways, both cold and warm — features alongside Arroz Brut, croquettes and salads. Paella is available but must be booked in advance. Portions are generous, and the value for money is consistently impressive.
A terrace with panoramic views
The restaurant's terrace is one of its most striking features. From here you can gaze out over Porreres, the surrounding countryside, Sant Salvador and, on a clear day, all the way to the sea. As the Santuari sits on the western flank of the hill, the terrace is a favourite spot for watching the sunset. It's well worth booking ahead if you'd like a table outside.
A sanctuary steeped in history
The monastery of Monti-Sion shapes the atmosphere of the restaurant in a very immediate way. The ancient stone walls create a calm, unhurried setting that feels quite removed from an ordinary dining experience. If you'd like to extend your stay, the Santuari also offers guest rooms.
Getting there
The restaurant sits at the top of Monti-Sion hill, right beside the Santuari, at Montision, 07260 Porreres. The easiest way to arrive is by car, with the road up to the hill running through Porreres.
Reservations
Booking ahead is strongly recommended — particularly for a table on the terrace and for dishes such as paella, which must be ordered in advance. Turning up without a reservation runs the risk of finding no table available.
