S'Illot
Description
S'Illot is a nature reserve and shingle beach near Alcúdia in the north of Mallorca, with a small islet just offshore that draws snorkellers and swimmers alike.
Water, Pebbles and an Islet
The beach is entirely made up of pebbles — no sand. The water is crystal clear and turquoise, and fish are visible from the shoreline without even getting in. Snorkellers are rewarded with a rich underwater world: fish, starfish, eels, crabs, octopus and sea urchins. The small islet just in front of the beach is easy to swim around or explore, and people regularly leap into the water from its rocks. Water shoes are strongly recommended because of the pebbly seabed.
Atmosphere and Views
The bay is calm and far quieter than the main beaches in the area. Picnic tables sit in the shade along the shore, making it a lovely spot to relax. The scenery — bay, islet and surrounding countryside — is truly impressive, with sunsets behind the mountains providing a stunning backdrop. A restaurant with views over the bay is nearby.
