Description
The Talayotic settlement of S'Illot is an open-air archaeological site in the resort of S'Illot on Mallorca's east coast, preserving the remains of a prehistoric village from the Talayot culture.
A settlement from prehistory
The site documents a Talayotic and post-Talayotic settlement dating from around 850 BC to 123 BC — with evidence of even later occupation. A shrine was uncovered on the grounds in 2014/2015. Information boards and illustrated panels, available in several languages, help to contextualise the visible structures and bring the history of the site to life. Wooden walkways and viewing platforms wind through the ruins, allowing you to explore the remains at your own pace.
Right in the village, close to the beach
The settlement sits in the heart of S'Illot at Carrer Llebeig 3, surrounded by hotels, shops and restaurants. If you're already in the area, it makes for an easy detour — entry is free and no ticket is required.
Worth setting expectations
The site is compact, and a full circuit is a short walk of around 15 to 20 minutes. Opinions are mixed: visitors with an interest in archaeology and Balearic prehistory tend to find the information boards genuinely informative and the preserved structures well worth a look. That said, some visitors have noted faded or hard-to-read signage, litter on the grounds and a lack of upkeep — particularly outside the peak summer months.
