Description
Torre de Cap Andritxol is a historic 16th-century watchtower perched on the headland of the same name in Calvià, in the south-west of Mallorca.
A Piece of Coastal History
Built between 1580 and 1582, the tower formed part of a coastal surveillance network designed to protect against pirate raids. It stands on Cap Andritxol and offers a striking vantage point over the Andritxol coastline. The tower itself cannot be entered — the doorway sits several metres above ground level and is unreachable without specialist equipment.
The Walk
The path to the tower crosses rocky, at times steep terrain, so sturdy footwear is a must. Signposting along the approach trail is sparse, so it pays to come prepared with a good map. If you continue beyond the tower to the headland or the nearby cliffs, you'll be rewarded with an even broader panorama — widely considered the scenic highlight of the whole outing.
Views and Atmosphere
From the tower and the surrounding terrain, the views stretch across Camp de Mar, Paguera, Santa Ponça and the sweeping coastline beyond. The atmosphere up here is calm and pleasantly remote. Watching the sun set over the sea and the cliffs is a truly special moment.
Location and Getting There
The starting point lies within the municipality of Calvià (07160). Parking is available on side streets close to the trailhead. Signage on the approach roads to the footpath is limited, so a bit of map preparation beforehand is strongly recommended.
