Torre d'en Pau
Description
Torre d'en Pau is a historic late-19th-century fortification in Coll den Rabassa, now open to the public as a park and green leisure space.
A Historic Fortress Turned Public Park
The site was once a military fortín belonging to the Spanish Navy. The distinctive walls, pathways, tunnels and watchtowers have all been preserved, giving the grounds their unmistakable character. Today the complex is freely accessible and serves as a park and outdoor recreation space.
Views and a Stroll Along the Ramparts
Walking along the fortress walls, you look out in one direction towards Playa de Palma and in the other towards Palma's harbour and cathedral, as well as Cala Gamba and Ciudad Jardín. Within the grounds themselves, winding paths, shaded benches and grassy areas invite you to slow down and take it all in.
Playground, Table Tennis and Sport
There's plenty to keep everyone active: the site has a playground with swings, a table tennis table and a floodlit kick-about area. That makes it a great spot for families with children as much as for anyone who fancies some sport or simply a breath of fresh air.
The Cat Colony
Torre d'en Pau is well known for its resident cat colony, which roams freely across the grounds. Animal welfare volunteers have set up dedicated feeding stations at various points. The cats are timid, and visitors are asked not to feed them and to give them their space.
Location and Getting There
The site is located at Carrer Minguela 12 in Coll den Rabassa, right on the coastal path. Accessible parking is available on site. Just a few minutes' walk downhill, a small beach with a promenade awaits.
