Description
The Torre d'Enfilació is a historic structure on the Muro coastline in Mallorca — an obelisk-shaped tower set within a natural beach landscape and well worth a visit as a local landmark.
A Tower with a Story
The Torres d'Enfilació are obelisk-shaped towers built by the Spanish military. They always appear in pairs and are dotted along the Badia d'Alcúdia. Several have been restored by the Ministeri de Medi Ambient and repainted in a striking red-and-white design. The tower at Muro is today a ruin and is fenced off from the beach — it can only be admired from a distance.
Natural Surroundings: Beach, Dunes and Pine Forest
Around the tower stretches a remarkable natural landscape: fine white sand, crystal-clear turquoise water and a wooded dune fringe of pine trees. This stretch of beach lies within a nature park. Walkers can explore paths through the pine forest and dunes. The water shelves very gently, making this spot particularly well suited to families. Naturism is also practised in this area.
Peace and Quiet Away from the Hotel Beaches
Compared with the busier stretches of coast lined with hotels nearby, it is noticeably quieter here. The atmosphere is relaxed and the crowds are modest — a refreshing contrast to the louder parts of the coastline that is very much part of this place's character. At sunset, the tower offers a particularly beautiful view across the sea and coast.
Location & Getting Here
The Torre d'Enfilació is located in the municipality of Muro (07458), Illes Balears. Parking in the surrounding area can be tricky during the peak summer months.
