Description
Cala Tuent is a secluded natural cove on the north-west coast of Mallorca, in the municipality of Escorca, nestled among the mountain scenery of the Serra de Tramuntana.
The Cove
Turquoise, crystal-clear water and a dramatic mountain backdrop define the character of Cala Tuent. The beach is made up mostly of stones, so water shoes are well worth packing. Natural shade from trees is available in certain spots. The cove has a calm, unhurried feel — even at the height of summer the crowds remain manageable. Snorkelling is also a treat here, as the water offers excellent visibility into the underwater world below.
Getting There & Parking
The road down to Cala Tuent winds along a narrow, twisting mountain track. The drive through the sierra is spectacular in its own right: striking rock formations, sweeping views, and the occasional sheep or goat by the roadside all add to the journey. There is a car park at the beach with a pay-and-display machine — parking is chargeable. Arriving early gives you the best chance of securing a space.
Good to Know
There is no beach bar or food outlet directly at the cove, so it's worth bringing your own drinks and snacks. A restaurant with views over Cala Tuent is reachable by car. When planning your visit, it's a good idea to keep an eye on conditions: jellyfish have occasionally been spotted in the water, something to be particularly mindful of if you're visiting with children.
