AMOK

Frankfurt, Germanytechno · hard-techno · electronic
DJ Amok, born Benjamin Arend in 1981 in San Francisco, grew up in Frankfurt am Main. From an early age he had an unusual relationship with music – classical composers like Wagner and Beethoven shaped his childhood before pop, trance and rave captured him at 14. At 18 he started frequenting Frankfurt's techno clubs, and shortly afterwards, under difficult personal circumstances, DJ Amok was born. This fresh start from scratch became the driving force behind a serious hard techno career. His debut release on Giga-Music opened doors into the hard techno scene, and he went on to found the labels Artillery and Crowbar Recordings. EPs such as "Darwin's Law" (2003), "Collateral Damage E.P." (2005), "Urban Rampage E.P." (2005) and "Cleansing the Sphere" (2009) are documented on Apple Music. Notable collaborations include tracks with Rude Awakening ("Lack of Respect") and Logos Apeilh. DJ Amok stands for uncompromising, high-pressure techno with industrial influences and has performed at events such as the Awakenings Festival.
