Zar, real name Arun Dhanjal, is a London-born DJ, producer, and drummer of British South Asian heritage. He is one of the founding members of the Daytimers crew – the British South Asian collective that has significantly reshaped the sound of the UK underground since 2020. His earliest DJ sets were performed alongside this crew, and his first production was played by Manara on BBC Asian Network in 2020. Musically, Zar operates in drum and bass and left-field bass music, shaped by influences from hip-hop, jazz, and soul. His debut EP "Practice Makes Miracles" was released in 2021, following what he describes as a challenging production process spanning about a year. Since 2023, his career has gained notable momentum, with increasing live bookings and growing attention within the scene. In 2025, Gray Area magazine featured him in their "Ones to Watch" series, highlighting him as one of the most exciting emerging producers in UK dance music.
