The Firm is an American hip-hop supergroup from New York City, formed in 1996 by rapper Nas, his manager Steve Stoute, producer Dr. Dre, and production team the Trackmasters. The group brought together East Coast rappers Nas, AZ, Foxy Brown, and Nature – with Cormega, originally part of the lineup, departing before recording due to disputes with Nas. The members first appeared together on the track "Affirmative Action" from Nas' album *It Was Written* (1996). Their sole studio album, *The Album*, was released on October 21, 1997 via Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records, with production led primarily by Dr. Dre. Musically, The Firm operates in the mafioso rap style, characterised by cinematic storytelling, dense beats, and the distinctive flows of its members. After a lengthy hiatus, a brief reunion activity took place in 2020. The Firm remains one of the most ambitious collaborations of the New York rap scene of the late 1990s.
