Total solar eclipse in Palma – 12 August 2026

Total solar eclipse in Palma – 12 August 2026

On 12 August 2026, Palma will experience a unique astronomical phenomenon: a total solar eclipse. For approximately 1 minute and 36 seconds, the city will be plunged into darkness similar to dusk, just after 8:30 p.m. The path of totality passes south of Mallorca, making it one of the privileged places in Spain to enjoy the event. With the sun low on the horizon and the Mediterranean as a backdrop, the conditions will be exceptional for taking in this unrepeatable natural spectacle. The Tren de Sóller has launched an exclusive tourism package for €220 on the occasion of the total solar eclipse on 12 August 2026. The experience includes a journey on its emblematic train from Palma, a tram ride and a boat excursion from Port de Sóller to watch the eclipse from the sea.
