Euroregio Piano Series — Chengyi Chen

On 16 September 2026, Chinese pianist Chengyi Chen performs at Son Marroig near Deià as part of the Euroregio Piano Series of the Festival Internacional de Música de Deià. Born in 2005, he began playing the piano at six, studied with Zhang Peng and entered the École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot in 2022. There he won the unanimous first prize at the Concours International de Piano de Chatou in 2023 and graduated in 2025 with the Diplôme de Concert, receiving the highest honours and the congratulations of the jury. That same year he was a finalist in the Concours Samson François. His programme runs from Romanticism to French Impressionism: Chopin's Fantaisie Op. 49, Beethoven's Sonata Op. 110, Ravel's Pavane pour une infante défunte, Debussy's Images (Premier Livre) and César Franck's Prélude, Choral et Fugue. Chen performs regularly in France — in the "Opus Cortot" series at the Salle Cortot, at the Les Nocturnes du Piano festival and at La Seine Musicale — and is frequently invited by the City of Paris for solo recitals and chamber music. In 2025 he played alongside opera singer Jean-Philippe Lafont before the princely family of Monaco at the Hôtel George V in Paris. The concert starts at 7.30 pm; advance tickets cost 30 €. Private parking is available at Son Marroig for concert guests — useful, since the coastal road to Deià is narrow. The manor house above the cliffs is reason enough for the evening on its own: here, music and place flow into one another.
