Perched on a rocky slope high above the turquoise waters of Cala Llamp, just outside Port d'Andratx, Beach Club Gran Folies is one of the first and most exclusive beach clubs on Mallorca. The club celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025 and has long held a standard that made it known far beyond the island – a favourite with an international, premium crowd of Germans, Scandinavians and Brits.

What makes Beach Club Gran Folies special
From terraces carved straight into the rock you look out over the open Mediterranean, which lies quite literally at your feet – across the bay all the way to the cliffs of the Tramuntana. That south-west headland setting, paired with the club's long history, gives Gran Folies its reputation as one of the most established addresses on the coast.
It is more than a sun terrace: a restaurant, a pool, a terrace cocktail bar and a wellness offering with morning yoga and massages spread across the rocky levels, with a dedicated events programme through the season.

Pool, loungers & day beds
To unwind, you'll find a pool with sea views, sun loungers in the solarium area, a VIP zone right by the water and generous day beds. Some slightly secluded loungers can be used without a reservation, while the sought-after front-row spots are reserved, with the rate depending on the area and position. A staircase leads down to a natural seawater pool in the cove, and if you arrive by boat you can reach the club straight from the sea via its water taxi service.

Food & drink
In the kitchen, Gran Folies leans on Mediterranean and international cuisine built on fresh, high-quality ingredients with a strong focus on fish and seafood. The menu runs from classics such as lobster paella, chateaubriand and salt-crusted fish to paellas, pizzas, salads and refined tapas. Chef Alex Arquero leads the team and tunes the menus to current gastronomic trends.
The restaurant is divided into several areas – a main restaurant, a bistro and a VIP zone – so you can choose your table and atmosphere to suit the occasion. Separate menus for the restaurant, pool, cocktails and boats carry the day from your first lounger to dinner at sunset, while the terrace cocktail bar serves drinks looking out over the bay.

Atmosphere & best time to go
Gran Folies is upscale and elegant, yet relaxed. It's open from May to October, with the season starting around 1 May. The day begins quietly on a lounger, lunch is a long affair by the water, and the mood builds towards sunset. In season, themed nights round off the programme: San Juan Night on 23 June with fireworks, the "Lost in Paradise" series with a live DJ and dress code, and full-moon events. Come earlier for a quiet beach day; for the event nights, book a table in advance.
