Portals Nouscafe

Cocos Deli in the heart of Portals Nous is where to go if you want healthy indulgence without sacrificing anything on Mallorca. The small café and deli on Ctra. Andratx, just a few steps from the fashionable Puerto Portals, has stood for fresh, honest cooking since it opened in 2016 — served in a feel-good look of soft pink and creamy white, to eat in or take away.

What makes Cocos Deli special

Behind the place is Amy Lauren, who took over Cocos Deli a few years ago and has been its face ever since, while her mother Jenn runs the kitchen. You can taste that family touch on every plate — the atmosphere is small, warm and happily busy, a favourite with locals and visitors alike. Because the deli is compact and especially popular at breakfast and brunch, it can fill up; arrive a little earlier and you will find a seat more easily.

There are now two addresses: the original in Portals Nous and a second spot in Palma's trendy Santa Catalina district.

Menu & specialities

Everything here revolves around clean ingredients and the good feeling afterwards: colourful daily salads, cold-pressed juices, creamy smoothies, wraps, açaí bowls and homemade energy balls. Many dishes carry a subtle Asian touch — think the Chinese Chicken Salad or a papaya-and-peanut salad — and there is a Coco Goes Vegan Burger on the menu too. The daily-changing deli fridge always holds something new, alongside homemade cakes and a soup of the day.

The trademark lies in the matcha creations and signature drinks such as the Ocean Latte with blue spirulina, plus oat and maca lattes for those who prefer plant-based options. The house matcha blend is also sold by the bag — fittingly, Amy Lauren runs her own matcha brand, "A Matcha A Day", in Santa Catalina.

Sourcing & quality

Cocos Deli relies on a few good ingredients and fresh preparation rather than an endless menu. Gluten-free, vegan and raw-food options are clearly marked, and there is a dedicated gluten-free menu for allergies — though note the kitchen is not a pure gluten-free environment. That makes Cocos Deli a reliable stop for allergy sufferers and conscious eaters who do not want to compromise on taste in the upmarket surroundings of Portals Nous.
