Little Rock Stars sits on Carrer Primavera in Cala Millor, a short side street a few steps back from the beach promenade. The name will mislead you if you look for a kitchen in it: it comes from the music, not from the stove. What comes out of that kitchen is German home cooking — and right beside it a full-grown Greek section that reaches a good deal further than the obligatory gyros.

The house is run by Angela de Rosa, who calls herself Angie and is known from the VOX series "Goodbye Deutschland". She came from Mannheim to Cala Millor with a children's fashion shop and later took over the premises next door, where a diner concept had lasted only briefly. When running both at once became too much, she gave up the shop and kept the restaurant. She cooks herself, and the menu is sorted accordingly — some dishes carry names you only understand once you know the house.

The room is laid out without pretension: a long counter, wooden tables, a small stage against the wall. The stage is not decoration but the second half of the concept that stands in the venue's own subtitle.

The menu at Little Rock Stars

The schnitzel the menu bills, without false modesty, as the best in town. They come straight from the pan, either pork or chicken breast, and they come in the full range: Viennese style, with hunter's sauce, with peppercorn cream, lumberjack style with braised onions and fried eggs, Hawaii style gratinated with ham and pineapple, cordon bleu. The house version is called Cordon Bleu vom Bert, filled with camembert and served with lingonberries.

From the grill come currywurst, bratwurst, krakauer and a curried meat patty — plus the Taxiteller, which brings chicken gyros with tzatziki and currywurst together on one plate. Almost everything arrives with dippers, the kitchen's own take on fries, which also heads a section of its own: dippers, nachos or a baked potato as the base, then a topping of your choice — beef chilli con carne, creamed mushrooms, fried fish with remoulade or pulled chicken in smoky barbecue sauce.

The Greek section is the second focus and no token gesture. Chicken gyros and souvlaki come classic or gratinated with Metaxa sauce and cheese, alongside bifteki, the beef patty stuffed with feta, and a mixed grill that brings all three together. Starters include stuffed vine leaves, grilled feta and a Greek starter platter. Anyone who would rather eat Mexican finds chilli con carne, a fajita, a burrito and a veggie wrap; the burgers come with a beef patty, among them the Rock Star Burger with grilled pepper, bacon and a fried egg.

Vegetarians get more than the usual side-dish selection here: veggie burger, veggie wrap, grilled feta, stuffed vine leaves, bruschetta and the meat-free dipper toppings are all marked as such. Among the salads a Greek one with feta and tzatziki sits next to a Thai salad with mango, prawns and breaded chicken. For children there is a menu of its own, its dishes named after the answers parents hear when they ask what the kids want.

Food meets Music

The second half of the name is meant seriously. Little Rock Stars has a stage, and live bands play on it — Latin duos, Schlager nights, special occasions. There is also a podcast the house produces itself. The bar is equipped to match: mojito, espresso martini, aperol and sangria stand beside Mallorcan liqueurs from the Tramuntana, with a decent run of gin, rum and whisky and a beer on tap. Someone dropping in for a cortado is as welcome as someone staying the whole evening.

Who is behind Little Rock Stars

You would not guess from the day-to-day that Angie is known from television. You can ask for a meet and greet if you like, but the everyday work is kitchen, service and a menu she put together herself. Booking goes through the venue's own site or by message — on nights with live music that is not a bad idea, and even otherwise the place is well filled for its size.

Frequently asked questions about Little Rock Stars Mallorca

What kind of food does Little Rock Stars in Cala Millor serve?

The name says nothing about the kitchen — it comes from the music. What is cooked here is German home cooking with a full-grown Greek section beside it: schnitzel in many variations, currywurst, bratwurst and krakauer from the grill, plus chicken gyros, souvlaki, bifteki and stuffed vine leaves. Beef burgers, a Tex-Mex section with chilli con carne, fajita and burrito, and several salads round it out.

Who is behind Little Rock Stars?

The venue is run by Angela de Rosa, who calls herself Angie and is known from the VOX series "Goodbye Deutschland". She came from Mannheim to Cala Millor with a children’s fashion shop first and later took over the premises next door. When running both at once became too much, she gave up the shop and kept the restaurant. She cooks herself and is around in the house.

What does "Food meets Music" mean here?

The subtitle is meant literally: there is a small stage in the dining room where live bands play — from Latin duos through Schlager nights to special occasions. The house also produces a podcast of its own. The bar is stocked to match, with cocktails, Mallorcan liqueurs from the Tramuntana and beer on tap.

Are there vegetarian dishes at Little Rock Stars?

Yes, and more than the usual side-dish selection. Veggie burger, veggie wrap, grilled feta, stuffed vine leaves, bruschetta and the Greek starter platter are marked as vegetarian on the menu, as are the meat-free dipper toppings with creamed mushrooms or guacamole. Among the salads, the Greek one with feta and tzatziki carries the same marking. The kitchen gives allergen information on request.

Should you book a table at Little Rock Stars?

The house runs its own booking system on its website and takes requests by message as well — which argues for securing a table in advance. It matters most on nights with live music, for which the venue itself recommends reserving. For its size the dining room is well filled at other times too.

Is Little Rock Stars suitable for families?

There is a menu of its own for children, its dishes named after the answers parents hear when they ask what the kids want — from nuggets through a child-sized schnitzel to pasta with tomato cream sauce. Main-menu portions can also be ordered in a smaller senior size, and the kitchen works calmly enough that a family need not hold back here.
