How do you get to Cala Estancia?

Cala Estancia can be reached by car, bus and bicycle; because parking spaces are limited, public transport is often the more practical choice. By car, the usual route follows the Ma-19 and then continues through the streets of Can Pastilla. The access route is signposted and ends in the densely developed town area.

One set of directions specifies exit 7 on the Ma-19 towards Cala Estancia. Within the neighbourhood, continue along the main road towards the coast. As road layouts and traffic regulations may change, you should rely on the current signs.

According to the Balearic Islands beach catalogue, the bus stop is only around 100 metres from the beach. The City of Palma tourism website lists EMT route 15 from Plaça d’Espanya. Timetables, frequency, routes and fares may change, so check them with the municipal transport operator before departure.

Cycling is also a suitable option. The City of Palma specifically names the cycle path along the seafront promenade as an access route to Cala Estancia. This is particularly useful if you are already in Palma or travelling along another part of the bay.

Where can you park at Cala Estancia?

There are only a few free parking spaces around Cala Estancia, and these can fill quickly during the season. Parking is mainly available on the surrounding streets and in parking areas within the developed district. No large free car park directly beside the beach is designated.

Showers and toilets form part of the beach infrastructure. A lifeguard service is also available, with coverage depending on the season. Follow the staffed patrol times displayed locally rather than relying solely on the presence of a lifeguard station.

Behind the sand, restaurants, cafés and bars line the promenade and the adjoining streets of Can Pastilla. Small shops and supermarkets are also located in the urban surroundings. This makes it easy to combine a swim with coffee, ice cream, snacks or a meal.

Shade is mainly provided by parasols; buildings or individual trees may also offer shade in some places. You should still plan your own sun protection, especially if you cannot get a rental parasol or are visiting outside the main season. Is Cala Estancia suitable for children and people with limited mobility?

Its suitability does not replace the need for supervision. Precisely because the water stays shallow for a long way, children can easily walk farther out than parents initially expect. Boats are also anchored in the cove. Stay close by and observe the marked swimming zones.

For wheelchair users and other guests with limited mobility, the urban location, paved access and surfaced promenade are advantageous. The specific assistance available for entering the sea on any given day may vary by season. If you depend on technical bathing aids or personal assistance, you should ask the City of Palma about current services before your visit.

When is the best time to visit Cala Estancia, and how crowded does it get?

In the morning, conditions are generally better for choosing a spot. Around midday and in the early afternoon, the beach often reaches its liveliest point on warm days. Outside the summer peak periods, Cala Estancia remains attractive because of its sheltered location. What is near Cala Estancia?

Can Pastilla, Playa de Palma and the Sant Antoni de la Platja marina lie directly beside Cala Estancia. The beach can therefore easily be combined with a walk along the promenade, a cycle ride or a visit to one of the neighbourhood’s restaurants.

To the east, the coastal area merges into Can Pastilla and the beginning of Playa de Palma. The transitions are urban and in places barely distinguishable. If Cala Estancia is too crowded for you or you are looking for a longer stretch of sand, Playa de Palma is the most obvious alternative.

Caló de Son Caios lies on the other side. Cala Pudent and Caló de Sant Antoni are also named as nearby beaches. They differ in size and character from the sheltered sandy area of Cala Estancia; the best alternative depends on whether you want more space, a different type of coastline or simply a change of location.

The eastern breakwater marks the edge of the neighbouring yacht club. From the cove, you can see marina facilities and boats that shape the maritime but clearly urban surroundings. The promenade in Can Pastilla also offers a wide selection of restaurants and cafés.

A visit to Palma can be combined with the beach by bus or bicycle. The municipal tourism website describes the cycle connection along the seafront promenade. For a trip without a car, Cala Estancia is therefore a practical starting point or destination on the coast of the Bay of Palma.

What should you keep in mind for your beach day?

If possible, come without a car, plan for sun protection and stay within the designated swimming areas because of the boats. These three points make a visit to Cala Estancia considerably easier.
