Danny Howells

Danny Howells, born on 24 November 1970 in the English coastal town of Hastings, is one of the defining figures of the global progressive house and tech house scene. He began his DJ career in the late 1980s, starting with Italo house and Belgian techno before developing his signature sound – which he himself describes as "deepsexyfuturistictechfunkouse." Before DJing became his full-time profession, Howells worked as a psychiatric nurse in Hastings. His international breakthrough came through mix albums for the renowned Global Underground label, including Global Underground 027: Miami and the Nocturnal Frequencies series (from 1999). He built residencies at clubs such as Ministry of Sound, Cream, Renaissance, The End, and Twilo in New York, and has performed at Space Ibiza. As one half of the duo Science Department with Dick Trevor, he produced singles including "Breathe" and "Persuasion"/"Repercussion," as well as remixes for artists such as BT and Robbie Williams. Since 2008, he has run his own label Dig Deeper, named after his long-running club night. More recently, he has been active as part of the trio 3D alongside Dave Seaman and Darren Emerson.
