Israel Fernández è nato nel 1989 a Corral de Almaguer (Toledo), in una famiglia Roma, ed è cresciuto vivendo il flamenco come eredità familiare. A undici anni ha vinto il suo primo concorso canoro televisivo; a 18 ha registrato l’album di debutto *Naranjas Sobre la Nada* ed è entrato nella compagnia del regista Carlos Saura. Da allora ha pubblicato diversi album, tra cui *Amor*, nominato ai Latin Grammy nella categoria Miglior album flamenco (22ª edizione, 2021), e il recente *Pura Sangre*, realizzato insieme al chitarrista di Jerez Diego del Morao, suo partner musicale di lunga data. Con il produttore d’avanguardia El Guincho, Fernández ha sviluppato singoli come „La Inocencia", nei quali elementi orchestrali ed elettronici ampliano il canto flamenco classico senza allontanarlo dalle sue radici. Tra le altre collaborazioni figurano DELLAFUENTE e Omar Montes. La sua etichetta è Universal. Nel 2022 ha rappresentato España al showcase di world music WOMEX. *El País* lo ha definito „die Stimme, die Gegenwart und Zukunft des Flamenco singt", mentre Billboard lo considera uno degli artisti emergenti più affascinanti del flamenco di questo secolo. Con *Pura Sangre* si è esibito, tra gli altri, al Sadler's Wells London e al Kaufman Music Center New York.
