TAO Dance Theater è una delle compagnie di danza contemporanea cinesi più conosciute a livello internazionale. Il fondatore Tao Ye, nato a Chongqing, ha studiato alla Chongqing Dance School, ha danzato con lo Shanghai Army Song & Dance Ensemble e lo Shanghai Jin Xing Dance Theatre ed è entrato a far parte della Beijing Modern Dance Company. Nel 2008 ha fondato la compagnia a Pechino insieme a Duan Ni e Wang Hao, quando aveva appena 23 anni.
