Anna Ferrer
Menorca, Spanienfolk · catalan-folk · contemporary-folk · jazz
Born in 1993 on the island of Menorca, Anna Ferrer is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Catalan folk music. Raised within the island's oral tradition, she deepened her training at the Taller de Músics in Barcelona, specialising in jazz singing. These twin roots – Menorcan folklore and modern jazz aesthetics – define her singular style.
As a member of the folk group S'Albaida, she has performed at the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa, the Cuartu Los Valles international folk competition in Asturias, and the Ollinkan Folk Festival in Mexico. Her solo debut *Tel·lúria* (2017) pays homage to Menorca, while *Krönia* (2019) pushes folklore towards a more universal sound through electronic processing. Her most recent project, *PA*, interweaves music with her father's craft of bread-making and has been staged at L'Auditori de Barcelona and the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa.
Ferrer has collaborated with artists such as Silvia Pérez Cruz, Marco Mezquida, Sergi Carbonell, and the ensemble OMAC – Orquestra de Musiques d'Arrel de Catalunya. She has also performed at Hauser & Wirth Menorca as part of a concert series organised with local producer Es Claustre, and toured internationally, including dates in Portugal.
