Cosculluela, met als burgerlijke naam José Fernando Cosculluella Suárez, werd op 15. Oktober 1980 geboren in Humacao, Puerto Rico, en geldt als een van de invloedrijkste mc's uit de geschiedenis van reggaeton. Zijn bijnaam „El Príncipe del Verso" (De prins van het vers) dankt hij aan zijn uitzonderlijke tekstuele kwaliteiten. Hij groeide op in de woonwijk Palmas del Mar en ontdekte op zijn twaalfde via cassettes van Vico C zijn passie voor rap. Samen met zijn broer kocht hij opnameapparatuur en richtte hij de groep KnockOut Trax op, die onder het label Invasion Music ook producties voor andere artiesten verzorgde.
Zijn commerciële doorbraak kwam in 2005 met de track „Te Va a Ir Mal" op de compilatie *Buddha's Family, Vol. 2* (Machete Music/Universal Latino). In 2021 sloot Cosculluela met zijn eigen label Rottweilas, Inc. een exclusief contract met ONErpm. Met een carrière van meer dan 20 jaar behoort hij tot de vaste waarden van de urban Latinmuziek.
