Nino Gvetadze

Nino Gvetadze is een Georgische klassiek pianiste, geboren en opgegroeid in Tiflis. Haar muzikale opleiding begon aan het Tbilisi State Conservatoire, waar zij studeerde bij Veronika Tumanishvili, Nodar Gabunia en Nana Khubutia. Voor haar masteropleiding verhuisde zij vervolgens naar Nederland: naar het Konservatorium Den Haag en het Conservatorium van Amsterdam, waar Paul Komen en Jan Wijn haar docenten waren. Haar internationale doorbraak kwam in 2008, toen zij de Tweede Prijs, de Persprijs en de Publieksprijs won tijdens de International Franz Liszt Piano Competition. In 2010 volgde de prestigieuze Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award. Als soliste trad zij op met dirigenten als Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Jaap van Zweden, Klaus Mäkelä en Jakub Hrůša, onder meer met het Rotterdam Philharmonic, het Netherlands Philharmonic en het Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Tot de zalen waar zij regelmatig optreedt behoren het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, de Wigmore Hall London en de Tonhalle Zürich. Gvetadze nam negen solo-cd's op voor labels als Challenge Records, Orchid Classics, Brilliant Classics en Etcetera Records, waaronder haar veelgeprezen Chopin-album „Ghosts". Zij is professor aan Codarts Rotterdam en medeoprichter en Artistic Director van het Naarden International Piano Festival en het Delft Chamber Music Festival.
