The Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears (OSIB) – formally the "Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears 'Ciutat de Palma'" – was founded in 1988 in Palma de Mallorca and is the leading orchestra of the Balearic Islands. It is supported by the Fundació Pública de les Balears per a la Música, an institution involving the Balearic Islands Government, Palma City Council, and the Consell de Mallorca. The OSIB runs a subscription season of around 14 to 15 concerts held on Thursdays at the Auditorium de Palma and serves as resident orchestra for the opera season at the Teatre Principal de Palma. In summer, it hosts the "Estius Simfònics" festival at Bellver Castle and collaborates with the Pollença International Music Festival and the Santanyí Music Festival. Chamber music concerts in formations ranging from string quartets to wind quintets complete the annual programme. Internationally, the orchestra has performed at the Musikverein in Vienna, the Auditorio Nacional and Teatro Real in Madrid, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Radio Hall France in Paris, and the UN's Human Rights Room in Geneva. Collaborations include violinist Francisco Fullana. Recordings are available on Naxos and Spotify, including albums such as "Vent" (2021) and "Revolució (En Vivo)" (2020).
