Chris en Steve Martinez, bekend als The Martinez Brothers, groeiden op in de Bronx in New York. Begin jaren 2000 ontdekten zij house en techno in legendarische New Yorkse clubs als Shelter, waar ze dj's als Louie Vega en Timmy Regisford meemaakten. Met hun Puerto Ricaanse roots lieten ze hun sound beïnvloeden door Latin Music, salsa, hiphop en de graffiticultuur van de Bronx.
Sinds 2007 zijn ze actief en al snel vestigden ze zich in de internationale clubscene. Hun definitieve doorbraak kwam met residenties bij twee van Ibiza's meest gerenommeerde clubs: Hï Ibiza en Circoloco in DC10. Hun muziek verbindt deep house en techno met Latin-invloeden, een aanpak die ook naar voren komt in samenwerkingen met Louie Vega, Nile Rodgers, Tokischa, Rauw Alejandro en Fuego.
Als oprichters en uitbaters van het label Cuttin' Headz, vernoemd naar een nummer van Ol' Dirty Bastard, creëerden ze een thuisbasis voor urban georiënteerde house- en technoartiesten. Hun invloed strekt zich uit van headlinersets op Coachella, Time Warp en Ultra Music Festival tot mode-samenwerkingen met Givenchy, Louis Vuitton en Fendi. The Martinez Brothers staan regelmatig in de DJ Mag Top 100 List en behoren tot de invloedrijkste dj-duo's van hun generatie.
