Dry Branch Fire Squad to jeden z najbardziej konsekwentnych i oryginalnych zespołów bluegrassowych w Ameryce. Grupę założył w październiku 1976 roku Ron Thomason, dawny członek Clinch Mountain Boys. Nazwa zespołu pochodzi od małej miejscowości w Dickinson County w stanie Virginia, gdzie Thomason dorastał. Thomason pozostaje niezastąpionym sercem grupy: jest wokalistą, mandolinistą, banżystą i gitarzystą, a także niezrównanym konferansjerem o suchym, prowincjonalnym poczuciu humoru.
