La Oreja de Van Gogh – Spanish for "Van Gogh's Ear" – is one of Spain's most successful pop-rock bands. Founded in 1996 in San Sebastián, in the Basque Country, the band comprises Amaia Montero (founding vocalist), Álvaro Fuentes, Xabi San Martín, Haritz Garde and Imanol Goikoetxea. Their name pays homage to Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh.
The band rose to prominence after winning a local pop-rock festival in San Sebastián, which gave them the opportunity to record their first EP and caught the attention of Sony Music. Their 1998 debut album *Dile al Sol* reached number one in Spain and went seven-times platinum. The follow-up, *El viaje de Copperpot* (2000), became the best-selling album in Spanish history and topped charts across Latin America. Over their career they have released 9 studio albums and sold more than 8 million records worldwide, all on Sony Music. Defining singles include "Puedes Contar Conmigo" (2003), "Rosas" (2003) and "Inmortal" (2009). When founding vocalist Amaia Montero departed in 2007, Leire Martínez seamlessly took over. The band are Latin Grammy winners and Grammy nominees. In summer 2026 they are set to perform at the ELLA Festival in Mallorca.
