PA by ANNA FERRER (TardOral series by Mallorca Literària)

“PA” – Anna Ferrer CONCERT IN THE TardOral SERIES of Fundació Mallorca Literària Anna Ferrer’s fourth album was born from the need to ritualise the passing on of the family trade: four generations of bakers. After deeply processing this heritage, Ferrer decided not to continue the baking tradition and instead to do with music what her family has done with bread. The album translates the sonic universe experienced inside a bakery workshop, the soundtrack of her childhood. The wood of the Spanish guitar becomes the wood of bread-making tools; the metallic friction of the electric guitar resonates with the sounds of kneading machines and stainless-steel utensils; the synthesizers evoke the hum of dough machinery. A tribute to bread as the pillar on which a worldview is built, “PA” is also a reflection on heritage: what we preserve and what we choose to transform. Anna Ferrer (Menorca, 1993) sings, composes and deconstructs songs from other times. Through her first two solo works, “Teluria” (2017) and “Krönia” (2019), along with collaborations with Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Marco Mezquida and Eliseo Parra, the singer has cultivated and gathered music of popular roots—jotas, boleros and ballads—freeing it from the limitations of time through immersive soundscapes infused with synthesizers. This journey culminated in her third album, “Parenòstic” (La Castanya, 2024), a hypnotic live show directed by Niño de Elche that exceeded fifty concerts around the world, including in the United Kingdom and France, and earned her the Enderrock critics’ award for Best Folk Album of 2024.
