BANDA MUNICIPAL DE MÚSICA DE SANTANYÍ

Banda Municipal de Música de Santanyí är en av Mallorcas äldsta musikinstitutioner. De första beläggen för en kommunal blåsorkester i Santanyí dateras till 1870, vilket innebär att bandet har över 170 års historia. Det betraktas som en kulturell symbol och ett viktigt pedagogiskt verktyg i kommunen. Merparten av de omkring 65 aktiva musikerna är elever och lärare vid Escola Municipal de Música de Santanyí (EMMS). Genom årtiondena har en rad dirigenter satt sin prägel på ensemblen, däribland Jaume Adrover, Miquel Morell, Andreu Bennàssar, Jordi Rosselló och Miquel Bonet. I dag leds bandet av Pedro Vallbona och Mateu Nadal är samordnare. Banda uppträder regelbundet vid lokala och regionala arrangemang, exempelvis Gran Concert de Sant Jaume och VI Festival Música de Santanyí. År 2024 invigde den konsertserien „Nits d'estiu a Raixa", som Consell de Mallorca arrangerar på den historiska egendomen Raixa, med verk av Ennio Morricone, Klaus Badelt och John Higgins på programmet. Bandet har även konserterat internationellt och representerar Santanyís musikaliska arv långt utanför kommunens gränser.
