Rodrigo Rodríguez

With Rodrigo Rodríguez you experience a musician who builds an unusual bridge between Spain and Japan. Born in 1978 in San Carlos de Bolívar, Argentina, he moved with his family to Mallorca in 1986, where from the age of ten he studied classical Western music and guitar. He later turned to the traditional Japanese shakuhachi flute and, in the late 2000s, became a student of the renowned master Kohachiro Miyata in Tokyo, dedicating himself intensively to the Honkyoku tradition. His music moves between New Age, world music and contemporary sounds. His releases include "Blowing Zen – Shakuhachi Meditation Music" (2021) and "Tribute to his Master Kohachiro Miyata" (2024); in 2023 he contributed "Court of the Chrysanthemum" to the soundtrack of Age of Empires IV. He has performed at venues such as the Imperial Hotel Tokyo, NHK Culture events, and the Kotoku-in temple before the Great Buddha of Kamakura, as well as in the USA, the Philippines and Spain. In his concert, Rodrigo Rodríguez brings the meditative soundscape of the shakuhachi and his Spanish-Japanese musical journey to the stage.
